Sloppy Joe Pasta Casserole

Sloppy Joe Pasta Casserole is perfect for busy weeknights when you want comfort food, minus the mess. Chock full of beef, noodles, and cheese!

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces pasta I like cavatappi
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 white onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced about 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cup freshly grated white cheddar cheese divided
  • ½ cup plain or Italian breadcrumb

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package.
    16 ounces pasta
  • In a large oven proof skillet over medium heat, add olive oil; once hot, add the beef, cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chopped onion and garlic and cook for another 5 minutes until the onion has softened. Reduce heat to low.

  • Add the mustard, tomato paste, and brown sugar, stir. 
    1 teaspoon yellow mustard, 1 tablespoon unsalted tomato paste, 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Add the cooked pasta, heavy cream, and ¾ cup of cheese, mix gently until everything is well combined and the cheese has melted. 
    ½ cup heavy cream, 1 ½ cup freshly grated white cheddar cheese
  • Top with breadcrumb and the rest of the cheese. 
    ½ cup plain or Italian breadcrumb
  • Place in the oven under broil for 5 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

You can keep the Sloppy Joe Pasta casserole in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
